2012 Clerk Of The Year – Cheri Mitch

Cheri Mitch

Cheri has been the Chief Clerk for the Greenwood District Court since 1988. Prior to working for the Greenwood District Court, she also worked for Sebastian County, the Fort Smith Police Department and the Fort Smith Municipal Court. She received her certification in 1994 and has earned 15 updates. Cheri is responsible for the day to day operations of the court and supervises 3 employees. She currently serves under Judge Wayland Parker II.  Effective January 1, 2013, she will welcome a new judge, Michael Waggoner to the bench.

Cheri was nominated for this honor by Judge Parker in appreciation for her tenure and service as his chief clerk for the 22 years he served as district judge. He has never had to worry about the day to day operations, disbursement of fines/costs or mandated legislative changes and praises her for her efforts in handling her responsibilities with accuracy and according to law. He also recognizes her relentless work ethic and willingness to help others.

Cheri has been an active member of the Association for the past 20 years. She began serving on the Executive Board in 1993. She has served on the Board a total of 9 years and served as President 2006-2008. She continues to serve on the Board today, as a past president. Over the years, Cheri has also participated in the work of various committees:  Certification 6 years; Legislative 5 years; Nominating 3 years; Audit 7 years.

Cheri has been married to Bobby for 23 years. Together, they have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Cheri dedicates most of her free time to family, however she enjoys camping, fishing and just spending time outdoors.
